Every Friday after five, the venue sponsors free concerts featuring local artists and bands from different musical backgrounds. Savor the sounds of Mozart, Tchaikovsky and others at the Charlottesville and University Symphony Orchestra. Listen to live opera at the Ash Lawn Opera.
Catch a theater show
Charlottesville offers a variety of fine art venues such as the Martin Luther King Performing Arts Center, the Jefferson Theater and the University of Virginia Arts Program. Take your date to the Paramount Theater and catch a comedic play, action movie, musical and/or classical fine arts performance. Support live theater, and pay what you can to attend a show, at the Live Arts Pay-What-You-Can Nights. Every Wednesday, the venue features a live fine arts performance and allows visitors to pay what they can in order to catch the show. Not only does it provide and promote fine arts in the Charlottesville community, what you can afford to pay helps support the mission of the venue too.
